THE SHORT ANSWER
Static design gallery → hosted print-on-demand storefront
These are architecture judgments for this scenario, not audited provider rankings or promises that any setup is breach-proof.
CHOOSE SOMETHING YOU CAN MAINTAIN
Three technologies. Different responsibilities.
Here, “outdated” means unsupported or known-unpatched components. React is assumed to be built into static files; adding a live server, accounts or an API changes the assessment. Simple HTML is assumed to have no backend or remote scripts.
Outdated WordPress
UpsideEasy gallery editing; useful if a supported store is already maintained.
TradeoffOld storefront and print-provider plugins add interconnected failure points for only a few products.
For this businessLeaked orders can reveal buyer addresses; tampered product prices can create financial loss.
Current React, many dependencies
UpsideGood for interactive mockups and exploring design variants.
TradeoffA custom live product configurator can require APIs, moderation and private server credentials.
For this businessKeep secret API keys out of the public build and send final purchases through the provider.
Simple HTML + self-contained JS
UpsideA clean gallery and a few product links are inexpensive and durable.
TradeoffLive sizes, colors and shipping prices must be checked on the destination storefront.
For this businessMake delivery terms and the checkout destination clear to avoid surprising shoppers.
FROM ADVICE TO ACTION
The details that matter.
Hosted storefront and fulfillment are different products
Printful Quick Stores has no subscription charge, but product, fulfillment and shipping costs still affect the money you keep. At review time it requires a US-resident merchant with US tax residence and a US shipping address for customers. Check eligibility before designing around it; the broader Printful fulfillment service and its other integrations have different capabilities.

Outsourcing logistics does not outsource every obligation
Printify explicitly identifies the Pop-Up Store seller as the merchant of record. Do not assume the printer automatically becomes the party responsible for your taxes, product claims or all refunds. Read the chosen storefront’s actual terms, publish accurate size and shipping information, and make responsibility for customer support easy to find.

Avoid a custom checkout for five designs
A hosted product page already understands variants, delivery addresses and payment status. Rebuilding those workflows introduces ways to accept an unavailable size, misprice shipping or trigger production twice. Let your site show examples and explain the design; let the store resolve the final price and availability. Order a sample to check the customer experience before promoting it widely.
What information goes where?
The fulfillment company needs delivery information. Keep collection in its hosted checkout, and avoid creating extra local copies of customer addresses or detailed support tickets.
On your public site
Descriptions, prices, public images, policies and direct provider links. No customer checkout form is required.
In private services
Necessary payment, customer or client records. Protect provider logins and any copies on your devices.
Link out before asking for payment information. Avoid hidden fields, query strings or analytics events containing customer details. A hosted checkout reduces collection on your server; it does not mean that the provider, your logs or your private business records contain no personal information.
See the data-flow and PCI explanationDo you need to pay the host for security?
A static gallery can usually use the host’s included protection with no paid extras. Your larger costs may be samples, production and platform fees, not web security. Consider paid maintenance only when you deliberately add a self-hosted commerce system and have enough sales to justify it.
The baseline still includes working HTTPS, protected accounts, a clean backup and someone responsible for changes. An included scanner is useful, but a scanner is not a patch, a restore test or an incident-response service.
Use the hosting spending guideKEEP THE TOOLBOX SMALL
Start at $0. Know the limits.
For a handful of designs, the storefront’s customer tools are usually enough. If repeat requests or custom-order inquiries grow, these three free small-business tools are inexpensive starting points. Store minimum contact details, not card information.

What are the odds of customer data being stolen?
Outbound hosted-product links create lower local data exposure than a self-hosted order database. Fulfillment-provider accounts, malicious destination changes and exported shipping data remain risks. A large custom configurator increases complexity without automatically improving security.
Ask your designer.
Is every print-on-demand account a ready-made store?
No. Some services only fulfill orders sent from a separate store. Pick an actual hosted storefront if you want checkout and addresses kept off your website.
Does the printer handle all taxes and refunds?
Not necessarily. Merchant-of-record and support responsibilities depend on the specific service and contract. Do not infer them from who prints the mug.
Should I install WooCommerce for three mugs?
Usually there is a simpler route. Hosted product links avoid maintaining an order database and several integrations for a tiny catalog.
