Who this is for
This guide covers seven specific solo-business scenarios on basic shared hosting. It favors secure-enough choices that an owner can maintain, rather than assuming everyone needs a custom store or an enterprise security package. The default context is the United States and prices are in USD.
How recommendations work
We distinguish facts documented by a source from architectural judgments, tradeoffs and hypothetical math. We compare outdated WordPress, a current dependency-heavy React build and simple HTML with self-contained JavaScript. We also acknowledge maintained WordPress as a practical alternative.
The research library lists official sources and pricing references. The risk explainer explains why it would be misleading to assign real annual theft percentages without relevant evidence. Legal and payment requirements depend on the actual business, jurisdiction and contracts.
Privacy on this site
This build has no account signup, checkout, analytics, advertising, remote fonts or third-party embeds. Search, comparisons and calculators run locally. The checklist stores only selected task text in your browser’s local storage; Reset checklist removes that saved selection. The site does not transmit those choices.
When hosted online, the hosting provider can keep access logs that include IP addresses and request metadata. Following an external source or provider link contacts that other site, whose own privacy practices apply. The content and interactive tools work offline; external destinations do not.
Independent by design
No links are affiliate links. The guide is not a certification, a promise that a service is breach-proof or an endorsement of every product a vendor offers. Pricing was reviewed September 25, 2026; verify current terms before spending.
Built for a subfolder
All internal navigation and assets use relative paths. This edition is prepared for the PSA Web subfolder at Videsign Studios, and it also works as a set of local HTML pages.
