Your microwave oven, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth all share the 2.45 GHz ISM band. The app flags that band explicitly, so you can see exactly which of your devices live in it.

Our honest position: major health authorities (including the WHO and FCC) have not established harm from everyday RF exposure at consumer levels, and this app measures relative signal strength — it is not a laboratory EMF meter and makes no medical claims. What it gives you is awareness: a truthful picture of how many transmissions surround you and how strong they are, so whatever you choose to do about it is grounded in real data.

Beyond the phone's built-in radios lives the rest of the spectrum: 433 MHz remotes, wireless weather stations, baby monitors, aircraft transponders, actual microwave-oven leakage. To see those you need software-defined radio (SDR) hardware — an area we're excited about for the future:

RTL-SDR dongles (~$30–40) — the famous USB TV-tuner-turned-receiver. Roughly 500 kHz – 1.7 GHz of receive coverage; plugs into a phone with a USB-OTG adapter.
HackRF One (~$300–350) — 1 MHz to 6 GHz receive/transmit, the hobbyist workhorse for serious spectrum survey work.
Airspy / SDRplay receivers (~$100–250) — higher dynamic range and cleaner reception than entry dongles, great for weak-signal hunting.
Dedicated EMF/RF meters — calibrated broadband power meters, for when you want absolute field-strength numbers rather than relative dBm.

These are general directions for spectrum exploration — check your local regulations before transmitting on any band, and note that current app versions use the phone's built-in radios.
